While this can work on phones with FDE, devices with FBE has to be unlocked by the user, using a lockscreen to decrypt properly after a reboot. I asked because there are systemui based methods that allow to bypass the passcode by essentially preventing lockscreen to launch. Also, I see the status bar, it shows signal (although I can't make a call, also some weird thing happens when I receive the call and press on record, then it says to unlock the phone, but clicking on it doesn't do anything) and battery percentage and some data from a pedometer app which I had installed earlier. And, yes, I had passcode set before this happened, but after this issue happened, it didn't ask for passcode. Yes, I see a lockscreen and swipe to unlock, but it doesn't ask for passcode and swiping up goes directly to the launcher.

I can try to do full backup using EDL and programmer but will updating firmware work in this case? Also, won't updating the firmware reset the keys? I would not take the risk of formatting at this point if there is another way out. I had found no auth firehose file for this model here: Don't know how genuine it is. I can't run dmesg, as I don't have root priviliges.

Unless it's some missing or corrupted encryption keys problems, i'd suggest doing full backup using EDL mode and testpoint, then doing firmware update to the same version, but not flashing userdata related partitions. It's Qualcomm, so that makes it a bit more complicated. It's quite weird if it happened on it's own, and persists with each reboot. Anything pointing to a possible problem with decrypting when checking logcat? dmesg would be good to have to, but it shouldn't be allowed without root.

I'm actually not sure if it'll get decrypted automatically with no passcode set, if you don't unlock the phoneĭo you see any lockscreen, a swipe to unlock screen or it boots straight to launcher? Do you see a status bar on top of the screen (the one with data, network signal etc)? Did you have a passcode set before this issue happened? You seem to have a very little free space available, which may cause some random issues. Decryption should happen after a reboot, when first entering the correct passcode. Phone uses FBE and have troubles decrypting the userdata, hence the encrypted file and directory names when browsing /sdcard over ADB. Do you think there is some problem with FBE on the device? I understand there is FBE which makes everything complicated.

Do you think there is some problem with FBE on the device?Īlso, I was contacting guys, do you think there is a chance of data recovery if I ship it to them? Or any recommendations for other professional services whom I can approach.Īlso, Attached are the pictures of the message, storage info and ADB commands.

Do you think this can be fixed or data can be recovered as data inside is very important to me. It still shows the space acquired by files in settings->storage.

I can still connect it in ADB but I am not able to pull up anything as everything in storage/emulated/0 seems to be gibberish (random alphanumerics). The phone was working fine before this happened randomly. Whenever I click on any app, it displays the message "App isn't installed on your device". The phone boots up, shows home screen but none of the app is opening (except settings, clock, weather). The phone is not rooted and the bootloader is locked.
